Ok, for me to write about a shirt it’s going to take a lot – especially after having abandoned this blog for months. But, yes, I’m coming back like Michael Jordan and Jay-Z to tell you about these incredible shirts.

I only have one Icebreaker shirt right now. But I only own three shirts, so it’s a significant part of my wardrobe. When I go to LA for a pit stop before Japan, I’m going to buy two more Icebreakers and get rid of my other shirts. That’s how good they are.

They’re lightweight, breathable, and luxuriously soft. I wear mine working out as well as out to dinner or karaoke. Wool is NOT itchy and gross anymore – this is WAY more comfortable than cotton.

But here’s what’s REALLY amazing about it : it doesn’t smell bad. EVER. I can literally do a full workout, be dripping with sweat, and smell awful. I take a shower and get out, and I go to give the icebreaker a sniff test.

I’m not talking about a cursory whiff, either. I’m talking about holding the thing up to my nose and breathing through it.

It doesn’t only smell “acceptable”, it smells bounty-fresh. It is absolutely astounding. There is no trace whatsoever of odor on the shirt.

I was worried that wool may not be durable, but that’s proven not to be the case. Besides wearing wool socks every day that haven’t shown any signs of wear, I’ve done tons of workouts in my Icebreaker. No wear, no loose seams, nothing.

Icebreaker shirts all have a number associated with them, ranging from 140 to 320. This is the weight of the wool in grams/square centimeter or something. If you’re going to wear it all year round, get a 140-200. If you’re going to wear it in the winter, get a 260-300.

I really can’t stress how awesome these shirts are. Once I get two more, plan to wear them exclusively for the forseeable future.

They’re sold out pretty much everywhere, but you can try Icebreaker at Ebay.

Why are they sold out pretty much everywhere? Are they no longer made or just super popular?

Great to see the site back, I’m hoping to get more detailed info about the other gear of life nomadic.

They’re sold out everywhere because they’re a small company and people love the shirts so they can’t keep up with demand.

Glad to be back… I’m scheduling one post a week, but I may up it to 2.

Hey cool, your starting this blog again!

I’m wondering, do you get deodorant/anti-persperiant armpit crusties with these shirts, or do you use a “best in the land deodorant” to avoid that problem. Or does your body not give off much sweat/bo that you dont have to worry about that too much?

Feb 15th, 2008 @ 5:08 pm

Yep… back in action. I’m going to announce it soon, but I wanted to make sure I had some posts up to back up my claim. :)

I don’t get crusties. I use Tom’s of Maine deodorant. The extra strength has better “flavors”, but they dry my armpits out too much. I recommend the regular ones.

I haven’t decided if they’re best in the land yet or not… I’m going to try some other ones when I get to LA in a few weeks.
